Moxie Fab Hooked on Hexagons Challenge

Gasp!  Well look at that I am sharing a layout with you!  I know you all thought I only make cards!  I do scrapbook now and again..I just always forget to photograph my layouts.  This time I had a good excuse to take a photo.  I am entering this layout into the  Hooked on Hexagons Challenge in the Moxie Fab World.

I went to a crop this weekend and really wanted to included hexagons in one of my layouts.  I found the above sketch by Becky Fleck featured on Bella Blvd Studio Blog and fell in love with it!  It wasn't as easy to duplicate as I thought but...I do love how it turned out.  I used my Sew Easy and some embroidery floss to do the stitching.  I didn't bring my KNK with me to the crop so I used my friend's cutter to cut 2.5" hexagons.  I intend to replicate this layout again.  I will use my Card Base 11:  Hexagons cutter file to cut the hexagons as a single hexagon is included in the file.   I used Color Me Crazy flowers colored with Copics.  I added a bead cap and rhinestone to finish off the center.  I would think my Playful Flowers Leaves and Vines cutter file could easily be substituted.  The hearts are punches I borrowed at the crop.  The stitching really did take forever..I am thinking next time I might just use my pen tool in my KNK to draw some faux stitching lines or maybe even let the KNK make stitching holes as it was hard to get the Sew Easy to pierce straight holes.  I could totally see this layout done with snowflakes instead of flowers too.  Now to find a single winter photo I can use.  I normally take too many pics!  A single photo layout is rare for me!

In case you are in need of a hexagon...you can purchase my file by clicking on the preview below.  It's on sale through the end of this month (July 31, 2012) so hurry and grab this great deal!

Back to School Sale 40% off all my designs, L-shaped desk bargain, ribbon!

Howdy everyone!
Sooo for many of you Summer vacation is over and the kiddos are back in school. Tyler doesn't start back until September 1st so he still has a few more days of leisure left.  Anyway, I decided why not have a back to school sale.   I for one plan on crafting more when my son goes back to school.  Taking care of one should be easier than taking care of two right?!  Click here to go shopping and save 40% off all my designs including cutter files, digital stamps, and digital scrapbooking kits.

Time and Time again my CDT member Kelly Stone just amazes me!  I don't know how she finds the time to craft all these amazing projects while working and having a young infant.  Super Mom is she for sure!  Today I have a wonderful layout of her cutie to share with you.

Isn't he just adorable!  Kelly decided to use my Circle and Wave Layout file but she turned it on it's side instead.  I never ever thought to do this but it does look awesome!  Way to think outside of the box Kelly!
Kelly also used my Beach Boys file for the title.  It is the perfect match to her "Cool Dude" photos!  Great job Kelly!  Click on the words above each photo if you'd like to purchase any of the files Kelly used.

Circle and Wave Layout

I know many of you are like me and love ribbon!  Dare I say we are addicted!  So I just have to share a photo and the bargain I found with someone who would understand.  My hubby just shakes his head.  Don't you have enough ribbon?
Would you look at all that ribbon!  I got this HUGE bag for only $4.00 at the Good Will store.  Most of it was still new shrink wrapped in it's package.  To give you an idea of how huge this bag is..this is my VERY TALL 3 year old and she can barely hold it!  I'm just thrilled I got all of that ribbon at such a steal!  I know I'm insane to get so excited over this..but hey it's good when little things amuse right!

Well despite a few rain showers that made all our yard sale stuff wet...things went pretty well.  We sold a bunch of unwanted items and made money..what could be better!  Nothing went back into our house...it all went to our church where they will sell it in their yard sale.

So I've been super busy all week trying to get my craft room/ toy room ready.  We have horsehair plaster walls and that means lot of cracks and holes to repair.  I have to say by the time the walls were ready for primer I became quite good at applying pudding and sanding to a smooth finish!  I primed the walls last night and plan on painting the walls a wonderful shade of green on Sunday.  Sat I get a break from all the hard work I put into the room by going to a crop.  Yeah!

I do have a layout to share with you but I need to figure out what date the photos were taken so I can finish my layout.  I really need to take some time and organize all my photos some day!  Another thing to add to my never ending to do list!  That's okay though I'm sure my new craft room will force me to get some things done on the list.   Ohhh I'm sooo excited to have all my supplies in one space!

Ohhhh I almost forgot.  I have another bargain to share with you.  I have been in search of a table that would hold my cutter in my new craft space.  I definitely didn't want to spend a lot of money.  I was leaning towards making my own rolling cart as Paperthreads owner Michelle Hessler did in this photo.    I love the way she designed it to roll under her desk!  But then I was looking at the Staples Ad and came across the desk below.

It is much larger than it looks in the photo.  We got to see it in the store and I am quite impressed with it's size.  I figured the cutter could sit on the left side and my laptop can sit in the corner...then I'll still have a space to craft on the right side.  I can even get S hooks and hang my cutting mats underneath.  The price is $59.99 good until tomorrow only.  We had a $24.00 rewards card for bringing in empty ink cartridges so the desk only cost us $35.00!  Yeah!  I can't wait to put it together!  Click here to see the desk on the Staples website.

Okay I have a lot of housework to get done before I can get ready for the crop.  So I'd better say toodles!  Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous weekend!

First digital layout and companion cut and paste, new scallop file in my gallery

I did it! My first digital layout! I wanted to enter the Becky Fleck Pagemap contest but was crunched for time so I decided to try my hand at this digital thing. It was so easy and the results are amazing. I wish I had a 12 x 12 printer then I could do many more digital pages and get my scrapbooking actually caught up. I didn't win the contest but had fun in the process. I plan on making some digital layouts and printing them in a smaller format for Xmas presents.

Here is the cut and paste version for my daughter's scrapbook. I used my own files scallop circle with holes available at my gallery at Cuttersmarket and the title is my own design. I used Buttefly Design's oh so versatile borders, borders and more borders file available at Paperthreads (the light blue border is her file). I delete the circle part of the border before cutting and tucked half of the border under my patterned paper creating a mini scalloped edge. Once again I used my beloved dew drops, primas and even a silk flower I colored brown with fluid chalk, crocheted flower, a brad and rick rack. I took photos of my daughter in various clothing colors. This was the only orange one and it was just too cute not to scrap.

Gotta eat supper! Thanks for looking! Have a great evening!

Bringing Home Adoree, new bracket file in my gallery.

I’m sorry I know it has been ages since I blogged. I promise I will try to be better about this. I do have a lot to catch up on.

First up is a layout using my newest file bracket box for the journaling box. It also uses Shirley Clarks wonderful file Home Sweet Home available at Paperthreads.

This layout show pics of the first time we took our baby girl home. We were so nervous! She turned a year in May of this year. So this is our house last May. I am amazed at how different our house looked this year….I had many tulips and such blooming and wished these pics showed that. Oh well at least this layout is done!

The layout is based on a Layout Blueprints sketch (love this book and would love to get my hands on the new release.) Shirley thankfully introduced me to dew drops. I am in love with them I buy the clear and color them with Bic Mark It permant markers which are acid free and sticks to the dew drops very well. I bought them at Wal-mart. I think they would work to color brads too. You can see I used the dew drops to accent the tree and the patterned paper above. Don’t you just love the tiny tiny brads I used for the flowers on Shirley’s house? I got them at Michael’s on clearance only because they had tiny crowns in them (perfect for the princess party my daughter had). I’m glad I found another use for them.

The photo below shows what you get in the bracket box file. I couldn't post it all on my gallery at Cuttersmarket because it would have made the preview picture too tiny. It really is a versatile file. I just got the latest issue of Scrapbooks Ect magazine and they have lots of embellishments very similar to my file posted on quite a few layouts. It can be used as a journaling box as I have done but also as an accent piece. The file can be resized to fit your needs.

oh my it's time to make supper. More later! Have a great day and thanks for looking!

This is a credit card holder I created to match my handbag. I used Carrie Creation's layered flowers file. You can find it at this link layered flowers . I inked the edges with fluid chalk...love that stuff. If you haven't tried it I urge you to do so.....so easy! You can buy it at Joann's online.
I also used a technique found in March 2008 Papercrafts magazine for the dotted paper. Doesn't it look a lot like ruffled material? I hope to create a digital cutter file to teach you this technique so stay tuned.

My baby girl came 3 weeks early so our church choir had a baby shower without me! One of the choir members was gracious enough to bring the presents home to us.
I used many digital cutter files in this layout
my file: found at Cutters Market
alphabet charm letters
Carrie Creation's files:
all about the arrow
baby accessories
playful banners:frills
playful tags
