Papertrey Ink's Make it Monday Challenge

Woo Hoo!  I'm off to a grand start...for my New Year's resolution ...day two of blogging!  Hope I can continue this trend and I hope you are all doing well with your goals too!

One of my favorite challenge is Papertrey Ink's Make it Monday challenge.   As of right now there are 147 technique videos (you can see them by clicking the highlighted words ...Make it Monday).  I'm a total technique junkie and absolutely love when someone shows me a new technique so it's a thrill to come to this website and see a new one every Monday.  Hmm...maybe I should make it a New Year Resolution to try one of these techniques at least once a month in addition to participating in the challenge.

Anyway..on to my cards.  I grabbed the color scheme from Curtain Call's Smitten challenge.   Unfortunately, I didn't get the photos taken in time to enter the challenge.  Drat!  Well I'll just have to remember to participate in their new challenge on Jan. 15th.

The newest PTI MIM challenge involves stamping one stamp in multiple colors and cutting them apart and layering them for a multi-colored single image.  Love this!  Check out the video here.  I'm not positive I like these colors together but they did look great on the mitten in the curtain call inspiration photo.  I do like how the focal image turned out though..and may jusy try this in different colors sometime.  I used PTI's Mehndi Medallion mini stamp set along with some circle die cuts and some fussy cutting.  I think the bling is a great finishing touch to the medallion.  It's funny I bought these gems when JoAnn Fabrics was going out of business.  They were designed to be attached to jeans...I have not put one on my jeans but I have used a ton on cards!  I used Deconstructed sketch # 129.  It's a great sketch for making multiple cards fast.  I also stamped the background paper with stamps from the medallion set too..and added a little embossing to the strip.  It just seemed too plain without these added features.   The sentiment is from PTI's Wishes Come True stamp set.  I figured I'll stamp the sentiment on the other card when I need it...it could easily be a thank you or anniversary card too.

I have one more challenge card to share with you so come back tomorrow to see that!  Right now it's snuggle time!  Thanks for stopping by!

Color Throwdown #261

I needed a quick card for a good friend who is going through a rough patch lately.  Papertrey ink had a blog hop yesterday.  The theme was wreaths so I used a wreath.  But drat I wasn't able to post yesterday so I missed the hop.  I also looked to Color Throwdown for their latest color scheme.  Just love these blues mixed withe yellow and green!

I pulled out Papertrey Ink's Guide lines two and stamped the background.  This is the perfect stamp set for color challenges.  It was fun watching the patterned paper take shape.  I definitely will be using these again.

Supplies:
Papertrey Ink Stamps:  Guide lines two, Turning a New Leaf, Honey Bees, Mehndi Medallion Mini,  Sentiment: Fiskars??
Momento Ink:  Bahama Blue, Cantaloupe, Danube Blue, Bamboo Leaves
Ribbon and small pearls

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great Friday!  Please come by again!

PTI MIM, Mojo Monday, Moxie Fab and Colour Q

I'm back again with another challenge card.  Loving these challenges!  They really motivate me to craft!

So I am entering this card in the following challenges:

Make it Monday#128 Stamping Random Background Patterns

ETA: Also entering this in the Birthday Card Challenge in the Moxie Fab World

I used Papertrey Ink Mehndi Medallion stamp set to make my pattern paper. I have to say it was very hard for me to be random as the video showed. But..once I relaxed and let stamps overlap..it turned out to be a lot of fun. I can't wait to try it again!  I have a hard time making masculine cards.  I hope this doesn't look too girly!  I did add a little bit of glitter marker to the "18" charms.  Really wanted to add bold, glitzy glitter glue but had to resist!  I added a gem to the center of the yellow medallion on the sentiment too to bring in the lighter blue color.   I really do like this color combo and that cell phone cover is actually pretty cool!  Other stamps I used were also from Papertrey ink: Mat Stack 2 stamps and die, "Happy" sentiment is from Happy Hexagons and birthday is from Paper Tray.  The yellow paper was stamped with Background Basics: Spots and Dots. I used my cutting file called Number Charms for the 18.  If you would like to purchase it please click on the preview below: (It's a steal at 60 cents for the entire month of Aug)

Thanks for stopping by...please come again!
