Howdy!
I figured once school let out I would have more "free" time but it seems all we have been doing in running to various activities. I have had oodles of cards to make this week too so at least I do have some projects to share soon. Yesterday we had a great day at Knoebel's amusement park. Hubby's work had a picnic there. The weather was perfect and both kids actually enjoyed a variety of rides. It was a grand time! Anyway, I was soo busy I completely forgot to tell you I am having a Father's Day sale. There is still time to cash in on some great deals! All of my designs are 35% off from now until midnight EST today 6/19/2011. Click here to go shopping.
I love Paper Trey Ink stamps! So when I saw they were having a contest to win some free PTI stamps I jumped at the chance to enter. The challenge was to use the rock and roll technique to apply two colors one stamp as you can see in the video on Lisa's blog here. This is the first time I tried this technique and I can't wait to use it again. It really does add a lot of depth to the stamped image.
I was inspired by Lindsay's wonderful card found on her blog here. I just love the way she stacked the images to create a border! Thanks for the inspiration Lindsay! This card definitely looks better in person...as the butterflies are shimmery and the seed beads used on the sunflowers sparkle beautifully in the light.
Supplies:
Papertrey Ink Stamps: Mat Stack 2, Round and Round 2009 anniversary set (sunflower), Paper Tray (Feel Better)
Stampin Up: Cheery Chat (Soon)
Shelly's Art: Buttons Galore (butterfly)
Hero Arts: White embossing powder
Copper Seed Beads, ivory thread,
Ranger: Copper Perfect Pearls
Inks: Memento and Versamark
Let's see I embossed the filagree stamps to make the white "POP" more. I used the Rock and Roll technique to make the sunflowers yellow with orange tips. I added the copper seed bead to the center of the sunflowers. For the butterflies I used my Buttons Galore file minus the button holes. I stamped parts of the flourish onto the butterfly wings with Versamark ink and dusted with copper Perfect Pearls. I stitched the centers of the butterflies down to serve as bodies and antenna.

Buttons galore
Okay I've still got a Father's Day pressy to finish so I'd better go! Check back later for some other projects from me and my team. I hope all you have a wonderful Father's Day! Whatever would we do without the Men in our lives!
Thanks for stopping by and Enjoy the special day!
