Papertrey Ink June and July Sketch Recipes

I love Papertrey Ink and they have such a knack for not only making creative projects but also inspiring others to do so to.  Every month they post color combos along with sketch recipes as a starting spark for our projects.  The sketch recipes are based on a card one of the DT members made each month.  I wanted to store not only the sketch recipes but also a photo of the card the sketch was based on for my records along with a link where the card could be found.  I decided to share my document just in case you can find it useful too. The documents are in PDF form and should be suitable for printing.

Below is an example of the format of the document:

I shared May here.   June can be found here.  July can be found here.

I hope to get the document to you a few days after the release in most cases and will post the documents here each month.  (Sorry June was  a busy month!)  I'd like to thank Nicole for posting a link to each card in her blog post now..this makes it soo easy for me to put this document together!

I hope you are all enjoying your Summer!  It just seems to be flying by for us!

Thanks for stopping by!  Please come back again!

Color Throwdown #349

Okay I missed the deadline for the latest color throwdown challenge.  It's not that I didn't have the card done I just didn't realize the  deadline was 6 PM!  Oh well I am going to share my creation  with you anyway.

This card is very similar to the one I posted yesterday....click here in case you missed it.    I remember seeing  Laura Bassen's awesome rainbow card using this very same Papertrey Ink Text Block:  Birthday die that I used but with a wonderful rainbow background.  You can see Laura's amazing card here.   She cut two cover plates one white and the other rainbow.  She pieced the rainbow pieces around the white lettering.  I really liked the way this looks.  So I thought I'd give it a try...ending up with two cards with minimal effort.  Boy was I wrong!  Laura must oodles of patience!  There are a ton of pieces to save in that background!  I tried using the dryer sheet method as seen in this video to contain all the pieces which helped some but it truly was a pain piecing everything back in.  I glued the worded frame down first then went through the process of adding the colored background in but I had to move my words around a bit to get all the pieces to fit in.  It probably would have been better to scotch tape everything together and then glue the whole completed frame down.   So I bow down to Laura and will probably never try this again!

Thanks for looking!  Please come by again!

Papertrey ink Make it Monday #216

This weeks Make it Monday video over at Papertrey Ink involves adding color to cover plates.  Check out the great video by Laura Bassen here!

I only have one cover plate die.  I bought the PTI's Text Block:  Birthday die.  I had yet to use it so it was fun to have an excuse to get it out.

I got the color scheme from the latest Color Throwdown challenge.  (I have another card that showcases these colors better so I'll share that card tomorrow.)  I decided to use MIM # 204 Watercolor Smooshing to add color to the cover plate.  I have always wanted to try this technique and it actually was quite fun!  I used watercolor paper to prevent a lot of warping.  I thought these colors reminded me of the beach so I made some "waves" using PTI's scallop die from the Nostalgic Notions kit.  I was going for a masculine looking card so I forced myself not to add any more embellishments.  All in all I think it turned out pretty well since I am terrible at masculine cards.
