It's time again for the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop. This month features wonderful textures and patterns like burlap, herringbone and chevron. These photos really do remind me that Fall is coming! I'm not ready to dawn coats but I am ready for cooler temps. I just love the colors of Fall and I much prefer adding layers then trying to keep cool!
I must say at first glance these photos were quite intimidating. I did not have any felt these colors nor did I have any stamps or embossing folders in the chevron, argyle or herringbone patterns. So I was at a loss of what kind of project to do...where to start! Then I got to thinking a friend had given me some wired edge burlap ribbon and I could make a paper on my computer to mimic the look of herringbone so thus...
The above card was born! I used my buttons galore file to cut the butterflies out of the computer generated herringbone paper. I did omit the button holes and used the negative space for this card. I backed the butterflies with the burlap ribbon. I cut the wire edge off and used that for the butterfly antennae. Another friend had given me this fuzzy beige yarn so I cut out sticky circle, tied a knot in the yarn, stuck it onto the circle in the middle and wound it around to form a flower so to speak. A flat backed pearl finishes the flower. The greeting is place on a die cut from my Card Base 2 file. The greeting is from Papertrey Ink Round and Round 2009 Anniversary Set.
Although I was nervous to begin this card I truly love the way it turned out. Now I just have to find a use for the herringbone butterflies and are left over!
I am also entering this in the Repetition Challenge in the Moxie Fab World. Click here if you'd like to see more details about this challenge.
