Papertrey Ink June 2012 blog hop

Just take a look at that inspiration photo!  I just love the colors and all those ruffles!  I wish I had these in my house!  I love grey as a neutral background too.  I never realized just how neutral grey is until it became popular recently!  The challenge is simply to make a project using that photo as a guide.

Oh I have to say I am pretty thrilled at how this card turned out!  I did it!  I stamped my own patterned paper!  I can't tell you how nervous I was!!!  I looked at Nichole's multi-step background building video. Although the video was very helpful.I still didn't feel ready to produce something usable. I browsed countless cards in hopes of understanding better the placement of the stamps.  Then I just said...stop worrying and go for it!  I think it looks great and I can't wait to stamp more of my own paper!  I used my Card Base 7: Pleats file  for the base of the card.  Adding pleats is easy with this file because the cutter does the scoring for you.
The birthday sentiment is from my Elegant Sentiments file.  I cut the sentiment in green then an outline of it in grey and finally added a yellow off set shadow. I really thinks this helps the sentiment stand out against my patterned paper.  Hand dyed seam binding, a flower, bead cap, and rhinestones finish off the card.

PTI stamps used:

Rosie Posie: small daisy and center
Turning a New Leaf
Round and Round Anniversary Set:  butterfly
Paper Tray: small flower and dotted center
Honey Bees: happy sentiment

If you would like to purchase any of the cutting files I used please click on the previews below to be taken directly to my store.

The Card Base 7 file is on sale until the end of June 2012 for 30% off so hurry!

Thanks for stopping by!  Please come back again!  Enjoy your week! I"m off to make banana cake!

When I first saw your card I thought it was patterned paper. I didn't realize it was stamped until I read it. You did such a great job!! I also LOVE the cut file you used for the sentiment. Love it!!
