Happy World Card Making Day, Sale, and Freebie

Howdy,
So are you a card maker?  I soo enjoy making cards!  I love to scrapbook but sometimes it seems to take me forever to complete a page.  I love that I can use all the techniques I use on scrapbook pages but have a complete project quickly.  I also love sending handmade greetings to friends and family.  If you haven't tried making a card..you really should.  It is soo satisfying!  Your cutter makes cards soo quick and economical too.  All you need are a few good files and some paper to make a wonderful card.  To help you get started on your card making journey (don't worry a lot of my files work for scrapbooking too) I am giving you 50%  off all my designs valid now through Oct 3rd 2011.  Click here to go shopping.

Have you been shopping for a new cutter or to upgrade your current cutter?  I do believe the new Zing is the machine for you.  It is light weight, portable yet still has enough cutting force to cut through a variety of materials.  Paperthreads is currently taking preorders for this wonderful machine.  Order now and you'll get your machine immediately after the release date.  Do you want 10 FREE files?  I am giving anyone who orders the Zing and inputs this coupon code ShellysArtFREEZingFiles when ordering the Zing from Paperthreads 10 free files.  Click here to order.  You will receive the 10 files listed below via e-mail when the Zing is completely paid for.

The files you receive will be in MTC format which is fully compatible with the Make the Cut software packaged with the Zing machine.  I have packaged up a variety of general files that are perfect for scrapbooking and cardmaking of any theme.  I have also included a box file perfect for organizing and gift giving.

Next up I would like to share with you an adorable card made by CDT member Kelly Stone.  (Don't worry I haven't forgotten about the freebie..it's coming..promise!)

I just love that Karate kid.  I was inspired by the way Kelly used the balloons from my Infinity Card file as you'll soon see in my card below.  The glitter is the perfect finishing touch.  Here is what Kelly had to say about her card.

"I made this card for my nephew, who recently turned 6. His favorite colors are blue and black and he really likes karate. The background paper is from my stash and I have no idea who makes it. I added some dots with my white gel pen to a few of the circles. The cute little karate boy is from Lisa at Quilling Patch - she has a bunch of free paper doll templates. I used a Peachy Keen face stamp from the Everyday Character set for his face. The piece of cake and the balloons are from Shelly's Art (Infinity Card: Birthday). I used Stickles on the letters of Conor's name to add just a little sparkle. The balloons are adhered with pop dots and I used embroidery floss for the balloon strings."
Now for my balloon card.  I loved Kelly's balloon technique so I decided to mimic it in my card.
I decided to use my homemade baker's twine for the balloon and pennant string.  If you would like to know how I made the baker's twine please leave a comment.  It was very hard for me to resist using glitter but....I figured I wanted to make this as a masculine card so I opted for using various embossing folders and sanding for some dimension.  Oops..I meant to add a brad or some puff paint to the ends of the pennants.  Hmm good thing I am actually early making this card for once.   If you would like to purchase my infinity card file and do your own spin on these balloons please click on the preview below.

I am in the process of converting all my files to MTC software but I still have many to go.  So feel free to purchase the files in any format and send me the invoice via e-mail at shellysart@verizon.net.  I will be happy to convert the files you purchased and send you the MTC format.

Have you ever tried one of my card bases?  I currently have 6 in my store.  You can see them here.  How they work is the cutting file gives you the basic pieces of the card so you just cut and layer and everything fits perfectly no measuring!  I hate measuring!  Then you just need to add whatever focal point you want...a die cut, sticker, stamp..even a photo.  It would be great to make up a whole bunch of these and have them ready when you need to send a card quickly.  When I made my balloon card above...I cut out enough shapes for 2 cards so now I just need to assemble the other and send it off!

As a special treat to honor World Card Making Day...I am giving you my latest card base totally FREE.  Hurry though this file will go into my store on Monday.  So grab it now before it's too late.  Please leave a comment because that motivates me to give you more freebies.

Freebie expired.  You can find the file in my store here

Do you want another freebie...you can find a great one by Just Laury here.   Also, Michelle...Paperthreads owner has some awesome blog candy here

Thanks for stopping by!  Please come back as I'll have more lovely card to share all week!  Have a fabulous weekend!
