Frugal Fridays: $1.00 stick pins with Fabric cutter file today only!

Howdy everyone!
August is quickly coming to an end.  Pretty soon September will be here and my son will go back to school.  We found out his teacher's name today also discovered that his friends from Kindergarten aren't in the same class as him.  Boo Hoo! Ahhh well I'm his Mom it's my job to worry but I know he'll do great!  I'm looking forward to taking those back to school photos.  I have made a goal by the end of September to complete a least a few layouts from Tyler's preschool and Kindergarten years as I have not done one school related page ever!  It will be a fun theme to do!  If any of you have some school inspired pages to share with me I'd love to see them please e-mail me at shellysart@verizon.net.  I hope to do up some school themed files in the process so please share any ideas you have for them too.  Thanks!

Now for the Frugal Friday special.  For today only you can get my Stick Pins with Fabric Cutter file for only $1.00 hurry though the price will expire at midnight EST today 8/27/2010.  I designed this file because many scrapbook papers remind me of fabric.  Also, I loved the look of stick pins poked through fabric but hated the idea of a sharp point appearing on my scrapbook pages and cards.  So I figured if I could replicate the look in a cutter file with paper then that would be wonderful!  I hope you agree.  Click on the words above the preview to purchase the file.  But before you leave please check out some project by my CDT.

Stick Pins With Fabric

Aussie Caz has been on a creative streak again.  I will share two projects with you today and then one more in a few days.
Caz did a great card with my Stick Pins with Fabric file and Card Base 1 file.  Don't ya think!  I love the colors she chose and what a great idea to turn the card base file on it's side.  For the pin Caz cut out two of the stick pins in gold paper and glued them back to back to resemble a real pin.  Next she punched two holes in the faux fabric and slid the pin through.  It looks so real!  I just love it!  If you'd like to duplicate Caz's card you can find the card base by clicking on the words above the preview.

Card Base 1

If you like this type of cutter file.  I do have a few others in the store and more to come in the future.

Card Base 2
Card Base 3

Next up Caz has another fabulous card to share.

I just love the bright colors and that glittery hummingbird!  I love that ribbon too!  As you all know I'm a sucker for ribbon.  I think it would be a fun challenge to pull out a piece of ribbon and design a card completely from the colors in that ribbon.  Hmmm....maybe one of these days I'll post that challenge.  After my craft room is organized! Ahhh it seems so funny to say that!  I do love having my own space but hate figuring out where everything should go!  I love watching that TV show Mission Organization...wish someone would come and do my house!  How about it anyone want to come and visit?

Hummingbird Card
We went to Shaver's Creek Environmental Center a few weeks a go.  It's a wonderful place!  They have various birds which were hit by cars or injured in some way and they keep them safe and take care of them.  There are plenty of wooded hiking trails and a little nature interactive room with learning games for the kids to play.  The kids really like it there.  So I thought I'd share a few photos with you.
The owl in the photo was one they brought out during their bird show.  It was great to see these animals up close without all those bars and learn a little about them.  I have no clue what this wild flower is called.  I just remember as a kid I would spend hours digging these up and replanting them in my patch of dirt I played in.  I still think they are just beautiful.  If anyone knows the name please speak up as I'd love to make a note of it in my scrapbook.  The picture below is of a bee hive they have in the one room.  It's fascinating watching all those bees work to make that honey!  I am glad there was a piece of glass between me and them though.

I found this photo particularly interesting and just had to share it with you.  It explains how long it takes things to naturally break down over time.  Click on the photo to make it larger if you can't read it.  I think it says 200 years for aluminum cans!   Gosh I'm glad we recycle!

One more fun photo then I'll say goodbye!  The kids were pretending to be "king of the mountain" while showing us their muscles.  Too funny!  We are soo lucky to live in a place that allows us to enjoy the not only the beauty but the fun nature has to offer.

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you have a fabulous weekend!

Back to School Sale 40% off all my designs, L-shaped desk bargain, ribbon!

Howdy everyone!
Sooo for many of you Summer vacation is over and the kiddos are back in school. Tyler doesn't start back until September 1st so he still has a few more days of leisure left.  Anyway, I decided why not have a back to school sale.   I for one plan on crafting more when my son goes back to school.  Taking care of one should be easier than taking care of two right?!  Click here to go shopping and save 40% off all my designs including cutter files, digital stamps, and digital scrapbooking kits.

Time and Time again my CDT member Kelly Stone just amazes me!  I don't know how she finds the time to craft all these amazing projects while working and having a young infant.  Super Mom is she for sure!  Today I have a wonderful layout of her cutie to share with you.

Isn't he just adorable!  Kelly decided to use my Circle and Wave Layout file but she turned it on it's side instead.  I never ever thought to do this but it does look awesome!  Way to think outside of the box Kelly!
Kelly also used my Beach Boys file for the title.  It is the perfect match to her "Cool Dude" photos!  Great job Kelly!  Click on the words above each photo if you'd like to purchase any of the files Kelly used.

Beach Boys

Circle and Wave Layout

I know many of you are like me and love ribbon!  Dare I say we are addicted!  So I just have to share a photo and the bargain I found with someone who would understand.  My hubby just shakes his head.  Don't you have enough ribbon?
Would you look at all that ribbon!  I got this HUGE bag for only $4.00 at the Good Will store.  Most of it was still new shrink wrapped in it's package.  To give you an idea of how huge this bag is..this is my VERY TALL 3 year old and she can barely hold it!  I'm just thrilled I got all of that ribbon at such a steal!  I know I'm insane to get so excited over this..but hey it's good when little things amuse right!

Well despite a few rain showers that made all our yard sale stuff wet...things went pretty well.  We sold a bunch of unwanted items and made money..what could be better!  Nothing went back into our house...it all went to our church where they will sell it in their yard sale.

So I've been super busy all week trying to get my craft room/ toy room ready.  We have horsehair plaster walls and that means lot of cracks and holes to repair.  I have to say by the time the walls were ready for primer I became quite good at applying pudding and sanding to a smooth finish!  I primed the walls last night and plan on painting the walls a wonderful shade of green on Sunday.  Sat I get a break from all the hard work I put into the room by going to a crop.  Yeah!

I do have a layout to share with you but I need to figure out what date the photos were taken so I can finish my layout.  I really need to take some time and organize all my photos some day!  Another thing to add to my never ending to do list!  That's okay though I'm sure my new craft room will force me to get some things done on the list.   Ohhh I'm sooo excited to have all my supplies in one space!

Ohhhh I almost forgot.  I have another bargain to share with you.  I have been in search of a table that would hold my cutter in my new craft space.  I definitely didn't want to spend a lot of money.  I was leaning towards making my own rolling cart as Paperthreads owner Michelle Hessler did in this photo.    I love the way she designed it to roll under her desk!  But then I was looking at the Staples Ad and came across the desk below.

It is much larger than it looks in the photo.  We got to see it in the store and I am quite impressed with it's size.  I figured the cutter could sit on the left side and my laptop can sit in the corner...then I'll still have a space to craft on the right side.  I can even get S hooks and hang my cutting mats underneath.  The price is $59.99 good until tomorrow only.  We had a $24.00 rewards card for bringing in empty ink cartridges so the desk only cost us $35.00!  Yeah!  I can't wait to put it together!  Click here to see the desk on the Staples website.

Okay I have a lot of housework to get done before I can get ready for the crop.  So I'd better say toodles!  Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous weekend!

Frugal Fridays: $1.00 Accordion Folded Flower today only and Iris Paper Folding

Hello,
Whew this has been on exhausting week!  We decided to have a yard sale tomorrow.  So we scoured just about every inch of our house for excess stuff that we just didn't need.  It was soo hard for me to get rid of stuff.  I have the mentality you never know when you may need something!   (The kids didn't want to give up their old toys either!)  But we did it!  I still have a few things to price but overall I'm ready!  Nothing is coming back into this house if it doesn't sell!  Hopefully this will get some stuff cleared out of the attic rooms and I can be one step closer to have a craft room for me and a play room for the kids. Yeah!  Wish us luck selling lots and it does feel great to declutter!

Now for the Frugal Friday special.  You get my Accordion Folded Flower file for only $1.00.  Hurry though this price expires today Aug 13, 2010 at midnight EST.  I created this file as a topper for my explosion box last year.  However, it seems recently that flowers like these were seen everywhere at CHA.  How about that I was actually ahead of the trend for once!  LOL!  Anyway, my file makes it very easy to make these flowers as the cutter can even do the score lines for you making everything perfectly spaced.  They are very versatile too just by changing the paper and center embellishments these work well for any season as you will see by the examples my CDT made below.  Click on the words if you would like to purchase the Accordion Folded Flower and keep up with the trend without emptying your wallet!

Accordion Folded Flower

I asked my CDT members if they could make this flower more Summer looking.  Boy did they meet the challenge!  Lisa and Caz did a wonderful job getting this flowers ready for Summer!  What a transformation!  Okay I know you want me to stop gabbing and show you huh!

See I told you Caz did a great job!  We both had to laugh when she finished these as they reminded us of tropical drink umbrellas.  Very Summery indeed!  It's amazing how just by changing the papers and adding a button could completely change the look of these flowers.  Don't they look great on Caz's colorful card too?!  I'm sorry I was hoping the Card Base 3 would be in the store today but I don't see it in the store yet...it should be there any day now though.  Please check back if you like it.  I will announce on this blog too when it's officially in the store.

Lisa did a great job too with the flowers she simply added a circle to the center.  I just love the colors in her card.  I also love how she turned the card base 3 on it's side.  The little green ribbon tails are a perfect accent.
I bet these flowers would even work for Fall or Halloween too by adding large brads or small pumpkins in the centers.

Tyler loves to craft and even Santa got him some scrapbooking paper one year.  He is looking forward to having a crafting space up in the attic almost as much as I am I think.  Anyway, he had to make a thank you card.  So he decided he wanted to try his hand at Iris Paper Folding.  If you want to see more about this technique click here to see my previous blog post all about it.  The lady he is making the card for has two dogs that great us when we go to visit her.  So Tyler said we had to do a dog pattern for her.  We found this great pattern at Circle of Crafters.  I let Tyler pick out the papers himself and for the most part he folded each strip too.  Since the pattern had 28 pieces...I numbered the pieces to make it easier on him and did hold them down while he added the tape but overall he did quite well with little assistance from me.  I think he really enjoyed it and will be making another one for his cousins birthday next week.  He also loved that he got to play with my stamps too.  He also got to use my glitter glue in the center of the iris.  Yep...he is definitely my crafting buddy!  I'm sure Adoree would love to help us too but she is a little young yet for this particular technique!

Okay lunch and then more pricing of our unwanted items.  Hope you guys enjoy your weekend and thanks for stopping by!

Frugal Fridays: Flourish Photo Corners $1.00 today only, projects and recipe by Tyler

Happy August everyone!  One week in Aug down and only 3 1/2 more to go before school starts.  Yeah!  I don't know if  I want Summer to end and approach Winter coat season but I'm not a warm weather person.  I can't sunbath in no way shape or form.  I love Fall weather, color of leaves and pumpkins so I am looking forward to the next season.  My son is bored being at home too and he's ready for school.  So starting next week we are going to dust the cobwebs off his brain and have little school sessions at home.

Okay now down to business.  For my Frugal Friday special you will get my Flourish Photo Corners file for $1.00 today only.  The price will magically disappear at midnight EST on 8/6/2010.  Click words below to purchase but before you leave please keep reading to see some awesome projects by my CDT and don't miss Tyler's recipe!

Flourish Photo Corners

I have an extremely elegant card using the Flourish photo corners file created by Lisa Lindesmith.  I just love the classiness of black and white together.  Sometime we spend so much time decorating the front of a card that we forget about the inside..not Lisa!  I think it's grand how the flourish wraps around the label and how the photo corners were used.   In addition to my flourishes file Lisa used my Fancy Labels file.  Click on words below Lisa's stunning card to purchase the labels.

Fancy Labels

Next up we have a wonderful thank you card by Kylee.  She wanted something to put in her customer's order as a way of saying thanks for shopping with us.  She does some amazing embroidery...check out her website here.  Kylee used my Pocket Card and Fancy Labels files to create the card below.  The pink tag is sparkly but doesn't photograph well.  I think this is great at the customers could take off the thank you tag  and write their own message on the pink tag to give to a special someone.  Click the words below Kylee's wonderful card to purchase the pocket card file.

Pocket Card

Okay now last but not least I will share with you Tyler's recipe.  But first I must show you the photo.

As I mentioned Tyler is bored so I told him then go make lunch for something to do.  He said he would make it all by himself.  So I stayed near by but didn't peak into the kitchen.  I had to laugh at what he brought out.  You all have heard of breakfast bowls right?  Well Tyler created a peanut butter and jelly bowl!  LOL!  Here is how you make it!

  1. Spread peanut butter around the sides of the bowl.
  2. Dump jelly in the center of the bowl
  3. Tear up bread and pile into bowl
  4. Eat with a spoon...Yummy!
Adoree thought this was the greatest thing!  She always gobbles down desert but for meals it's sometimes tough to get her to eat quickly.  Well she inhaled Tyler's creation!  She even asked Tyler to make her another one!  For desert Tyler spooned vanilla yogurt into a bowl and added mint chocolate Andes candies to it.  Not my favorite combo as I prefer chocolate chips but I ate every last bit since Tyler created it!  I can't wait to scrap these photos!  Tyler was sooo proud of his meal!

Speaking of food it's soon time for lunch!  So toodles....I'm working on getting ready for a yard sale..FUN!
Hope you have something more exciting planned for your weekend!  Thanks for stopping by!
