Cupcakes, spiders, and pinwheels!

Hello!
Fall has officially started in my neck of the woods but we've had 80 degree weather with much humidity the past couple days. I'm eager to clean up the flower beds and plant some mums. They are calling for rain so we shall see. At least I should be able to get the inside house looking Fallish! We had a whole bunch of gourds pop up all over our garden and compost pile so I'm looking forward to using those!

Just wanted to share with you some amazing things people have made with my cupcake card file. You guys just amaze me with all your talent! I'm so glad you like my files and I love seeing them in action. I'm always on the look out for creative ways to use my files so please e-mail me (shellysart@verizon.net) anything you make and I'll publish it on my blog for all to see.

First up Sue seems to like to hog my blog at times. Today is no different! LOL! Just take a look at the great layout she used my cupcake card on. How brilliant it was to use the card base as a journaling spot. It's the perfect way to embellish the page and still have room for the important stories. I also like how she used brads for sprinkles.

She also used my folded photo corners file. Click on the previews below to purchase the files Sue used in this fab layout.

Sue also thought to use just the flowers of the cupcake card file for one of my card sketch challenges. Isn't it great! I just love the glitter center. I need to find some of the black color!

Sue wasn't the only one enjoying my cupcake. Deb took the card to a new creative level by cutting the cupcakes smaller and attaching 3 of them to this interative card. I love the cuttlebug embossing plates she used. Aren't those tiny confetti hearts just adorable. Look closely you'll see she added sentiments to each cupcake.Deb also used my I Love You Card file for the border. Click below to purchase.

I also have put a few new Halloween themed files in the store just in time for you to start getting ready for Halloween. Check them out below. I am especially tickled with the way the spider box turned out. Oh and I'd like to give credit to Elizabeth Charleton for cutting the marvelous pinwheel for me.

Here's a sneak peak of a file coming soon to my store. Update: This file is now in the store! Click on the link below to purchase it.

Gotta go meet hubby for lunch. 2 year old daughter wants Chinese! I like how she thinks! Yummy! Have a great weekend!

A great deal..hurry before it's too late and homemade glimmer mist.

Hi everyone,
Have you guys seen the vacations and getaways quarterly membership at Paperthreads. All the designers have pitched in and made a wonderful bunch of files for you to enjoy for only $15.00. All proceeds from the membership go to a fellow designer and mother of 7 whose hubby has been diagnosed with terminal cancer. You get at least 60 files and possibly a few more. Hurry don't pass up this offer! It expires the 30th of this month (September) so purchase your membership and start collecting all these amazing files. Click here to purchase the membership. Still not convinced take a look of what I contributed below.

The title I used in my layout is cut with a file you can get only in the membership.

The wonderful file above was made by Gina using some more vacation membership files. The title, swim suit and sandals are all part of a file I donated for membership.

The beach tickets you see in Sue's wonderful layout are my creation and the sea shells are Sam and Hailey Designs creation so you get both if you purchase the membership.

Here are my other contributions.

So now that you have seen some of the file you get why not go purchase the membership today. I mean you really can't go wrong...60+ high quality files for $15.00...where else can you get a deal like that! You'll feel good too knowing you helped out someone in need. Click here to purchase the membership.

I have seen this video for making your own glimmer mist by Tim Holtz and the one on two peas thinking ink classes but never got around to trying it that is until Lady Dawn started talking to me. I got all excited and had a birthday card to make so I figured why not give it a try! I am so impressed with the results if I do say so myself. I only had 3 bottle of distress reinkers (frired brick, faded jeans, and mustard seed) and the Perfect (Pearls Bronze, Gold, Copper, and Pearl). OH MY GOSH! In an effort to get out the package so I could list for you the colors of PP I had I spilled the entire container of copper! I did manage to salvage quite a bit of it and it did clean up well with Lysol wipes on my laminate floor and furniture. Actually, the copper sheen looked kinda nice on my black cabinet! Oh the waste though...I could just cry! Anyway, I was able to mix the reinkers to achieve almost all the colors I wanted except for purple....supposedly red and blue make purple but I couldn't get purple...mostly brown came out! I use my newly made glimmer mist for the card below. I am so tickled with the way the background came out...the shimmer is amazing in person but very hard to photograph. I also used the gold perfect pearl to highlight the stamped "happy birthday" sentiment.

I also used the distress crackle paint for the flower as you can see in the closeup. This stuff is wonderful....thin layer of paint equals small cracks like the ones in my photo. Thicker layer equals larger cracks. Just one step paint and let dry. So easy. I also enhanced the cracks with some brown paint. BTW the flower is from one of my best selling files Playful flowers, leaves and branches. Click below to purchase if you are interested.

Thanks for looking and if you can give me any other hints on how to use the homemade glimmer mist or perfect pearls I'm all ears!
