Frugal Fridays: $1.00 Nutty Valentine, CDT projects, Stampin' Up tip, and sneak peek at a new file.

Do you have your Valentines done?  We'll here is your chance to pick up a nutty Valentine for only $1.00.  Click here to purchase my I'm Nuts About You Card.  Hurry though this price expires at midnight EST today 2/11/11.  Before you leave though I have some awesome projects done by my Creative Design Team.  Week after week my e-mail box fills with such wonderful projects!  I am soo lucky to have such a talented bunch of ladies on my side!

Isn't this Valentine by Shelly just terrifically whimsical?  I love how she combined my Birds of a Feather file with my Valentine Set to make this great card.  My favorite part of the card is the actual use of feathers...it's begging touch me!  I also love the white accents and the doodling on the branch.  Great job Shelly!  If you would like to "case" Shelly's card click on the words above the previews to buy the files needed.

Birds of a Feather

Kelly also was busy making a wonderful Valentine too.  Laury...a fellow Paperthreads designer designed this huggable card.  You can see it here.  I just love it!  Kelly used some of the files from my Lovely Layout to design the front of her card.  Way to go Kelly thinking outside the box..seeing more than just a layout in that file.  I just love the shimmery paper she used also. If you would like to purchase this file click on the words above the preview

Lovely Layout
Well I don't know about you but I'm soo tired of putting on numerous layers of clothing and such just to be able to endure the bus stop without freezing!  I long for the days of heading out the door with just a pair of shoes!  I have thoughts of Spring in my head and I think Shelly did too check out her great butterfly card below.

Yep...I wish these butterflies could fly off this card and bring warm weather to my world!   Oh well I'm sure warmth will come soon enough and I'll be complaining it's too HOT! LOL!   Shelly got our her airbrush to make the butterflies wings come to life.  The stamps/dies she used were from Papertrey Ink.  The butterflies are from my 3-D butterflies file.  Click on the words above the preview to
purchase this file.

3-D Butterflies

Now I promised you a little sneak peek at my newest file.  Here it is...it's the first installment in a fruit digi collection.  Let me know what you think and also pass along any "fruity" sentiments you can think of please.  I'm not sure I'll stick with that font.   I have seen where you can add Kool Aid to embossing powder to make a "smelly" card...I think these digis would be perfect for that!

Stampin' Up Tip

I am not an expert stamper by any means but I recently have gotten back into stamping.  I know there are many companies out there that sell stamps but Stampin Up is the only company in which I know the stamps will last a very long time.  I have some from 1994 that are still in like new condition!  So I decided to cash in on some of the deals and freebie during Sale-a-bration..knowing I was making a good investment.

I am loving the new clear mount stamps! Okay the tip is to save the sticker sheets once applying the cling sticker to your stamps.  You can use these scraps to turn your wood mounted stamps into cling mounted.  Remember you don't need the entire stamp to be covered with the cling sticker for it to stick.  The smaller stamps you can get away with a scrap in the middle.  The larger ones make sure you have your edges covered and one smaller scrap in the middle.  I ordered the Loads of Love stamp set.  It only came wood mount so instead of mounting it on the wood I placed the sticker directly onto the grey foam and cut off the excess then I applied the remnants from my clear mount sticker sheets on top of that sticker to make them stick to acrylic blocks.  I was able to use the remnants to make 4 SU wood mounted stamp sets into clear mount and I still have enough left to do one more set.  I am working on my stamp storage system so I will share that with you along with photos when I get it done.  Oh and here is a tut on how to unmount stamps for you to look at in case you don't understand the whole sticker on the foam thing I was talking about.

Okay time for lunch!  Have a great weekend and stay warm!

But...please before you go scroll down check out what else I have to share with you below.

I'm proud to announce a new member to my Creative Design Team. Caroline Stedman has agreed to be a part of my team.  Yeah!  Those of you who are familiar with Paperthreads and the forum are probably thinking Caroline..who is that!?!  Well she is better known as Aussie Caz!  I'm sooo happy to have this talented lady from down under on my team!  As I told her  she is "well-rounded" dibbling in all types of papercrafts and also digital scrapbooking including hybrid techniques.   So I'm sure she will be a great asset to my very talented team!  Caz shared a small bio about herself along with a photo check it out below.

"I am a SAHM to one very adorable boy, 14yo, and a Mum to four fantastic girls who are not living at home, 26yo, 25yo, 23yo and 21yo. I am married to my soul mate, Gary. We live in a rented farmhouse in rural New South Wales, Australia.

I have been scrapping since I was a kid, but recently discovered Digital Scrapbooking about 4 years ago. Then, about 2 years ago, a new world opened up for me. I purchased a Craft Robo and ventured into the world of Personal Cutters. 12 months ago a new Cutter hit the market and I traded in my Craft Robo for a 15inch KNK Maxx. Now I am broke through purchasing all the gorgeous files created by talented Designers that I just have to have, but the fun I am having overrides the expense . I love that this area of creativity joins together all the things I love, Scrapping, my KNK Maxx, Photography and my Computer (without which I am lost). I use PSCS3 and am learning about KNK Studio. "

It's only been a few days since Caz joined the team but she already has a project to share.   She took my Cupcake Card cutter file and turned it into a digitally created whimsically wonderful  card.    I love the little gems on the cupcake icing!  Psst..the sketch this card was based on is designed by Caz too and will be used for my April card sketch challenge on the Paperthreads forum.  I can't wait to try out the sketch myself..it's a great one!  Oh and Caz does designing of digital scrapbooking kits so if you'd like to get a glimpse of her work you can pick up a wonderful floral kit with awesome colors here on her blog.

I did manage to make a few cards myself.   Here is one using birthday monkey from Bugaboo Stamps.  I just think this little monkey is soo cute!  I wish I had a sewing machine or time to hand stitch but I had to get this card in the mail quick before it was late.  (One of these days I'll make up some birthday cards ahead of time!)
I used paper paint on the icing to give it more dimension.  Glitter glue was used on the hat, candle and platter.  Silver fabric paint was used on the fork.  Copics were used to color the image as well as the clear dew drops. The paper I used came from Transparent Touches kit #3 for March.  I just love this paper line and this kit!  To see another card made from the kit and more info on how to get your own kits delivered right to your door refer to this previous post.
I finally got my Easter Tree digital stamp in the store.  I am pretty happy with the way it turned out!  I even drew up a title to match.  Check out the card I made with it below.  I experimented with my new Copic airbrush system for the stamp backgrounds.  I should have chosen more contrasting colors...oh well live and learn!  I do love the soft look it creates and if you used the brush end...it makes wonderful little dots!  I'm looking forward to using it again!

I just love this stamp mostly because it's so easy to embellish with glitter glue, flocking or flower soft.   I used glitter glue on the eggs but I bet crackle paint would look awesome too!  Can you tell I love my embellishing tools!   This is a based on a Mojo Monday's sketch.
Click on the image below if you'd like to purchase the Easter Tree digital stamp.

I have another Easter digi stamp just about ready.  I just am working on some sentiments to go with him/her.  See a sneak peek of it below.

Okay I think this post is getting too long so I'll be back next week with some layouts to share.  Thanks for stopping by!  Have a fabulous weekend!
Shelly
