This week's Make it Monday involves making tags with double layers. Dawn showcases just how to do this technique in a lovely video. Check it out on Nicole's blog
here. I have to say I don't usually make tags at all! We travel for Christmas so I usually rely on gift wrapped packaged with flat peel and stick labels since they are easier to stack and store in the car. However, I do have one gift basket to give this year so I set about making a tag for that. I must admit it was quite fun and soo much quicker than a card.
First let me just apologize for the poor photos. If I get more time I will choose a better backing and take some better photos. I have much on my agenda this weekend and I wanted to get this in the challenge before it was over.
I had tons of fun making this shaker tag! I was inspired by a wonderful card Lizzie Jones made...you can see it on her blog
here. My son got a fuse tool for Christmas a few years ago and I think I've been having more fun with it than he has! I'm glad he likes to share! Anyway, I used the We r Memory Keepers Fuse tool to make the pocket for my shaker goodies.
I used a technique Jennifer McGuire showed in her video
here. Basically she took a circle die and used it as a guide to fuse the edges of the pocket. I used some scrapbook page protectors I had trimmed off when making pockets for my card stock (at some point I will share some photos of how I made my pocket pages using scrapbook page protectors at a later date).
I cut two of PTI's Tag sale #4 dies one in color and one in patterned card stock. For the patterned tag I used the same circle die I used to fuse my shaker pocket to cut a circle window out of the tag. I glued my shaker pocket behind the cut out area. I placed the PTI Shaped Sayings: Christmas die on top of the shaker elements. I used glittered paper for the berries on the holly.
I didn't adhere the two tags together at all. I simply used some baker's twine to thread them together.
I stamped To and From included in PTI's Bells and Boughs stamp set on the back of the tag.
This was soo fun..I wish I needed more tags! Hmm maybe I should make a few as gifts!
