Sorry No Mission Organization post this week

Hi everyone,
I must apologize.  My craft room organization has come to a halt.  I am organizing other parts of my home.  We just had my son to the allergist.  He is allergic to many, many things.  One of them being dust.  So I am getting rid of any and all decorations and trying to make it easier to dust.  I am not a good housekeeper but I am trying to get this house as dust free as possible for his sake.  He also has asthma.  He only had taken an inhaler in the past when he had a bad cold.  So I was amazed when he didn't have enough breath to blow out the candles during the pulmonary function test!  Poor guy has been through soo much...lazy eye, migraines and now this.  I'm hoping he's getting all this out of his system during his childhood so he can have a good and healthy adult life!  Anyway, I am hoping to get this house in tip top shape soon so I can have a mission organizational post for you next Monday.

I dry embossed the triangle and then applied embossing powder.  I used the same flower paper for the hummingbird but colored on it with copic.   I applied gold stickle on the wings and tail. I gold embossed the tag.  The french wording is from Bonnidee and the swirl is Spiral Symphony from gel-à-tins.  I glued the ribbon and applied 3 brads to balance the card.

New files, humdinger of a card, and aquarium photos

Howdy,
I do apologize for not blogging lately.  It has been on my mind to do so but I honestly don't know where time goes any more!  I did use some of my time to get some new files into my store.  These files were previously only available in my membership.  Now you can purchase them individually if you desire.

Above you'll see one of my most favorite files.  It was inspired by a project from former CDT member Shelly M.  She suggested it would be cute to do a card and box set and thus this file was born.  The card actually fits inside the box.  In fact you can fit more than one of these cards in the box.  So that means you could cut several of these mixing and matching the flowers and leaves to make a complete gift set.  The banner is designed so you can make blank banners that can be stamped or written with the pen tool.  So you could do several banners with different sentiments for the recipient to attach when he/she needs one.  If you would like to purchase the set just click on the photo above. I was planning on sharing with you first day of school photos for both my kids but I am having problems getting the photos transferred to my computer.  I have tried card readers but I have an older camera that still uses the compact flash and the pins keep bending when inserting the card into the reader.   My USB cord stopped working many years ago.  So I'm hoping I can find a new USB cord or better card reader.   Do you guys have any suggestions as what to buy?

I did promise to share some aquarium photos though so here goes.....

I always enjoy going to aquariums and part of the fun is I love looking and scrappin' the photos later.  Tyler on the other hand hated the aquarium.  He thought it was boring.  He doesn't like zoos much either.  He likes interactive exhibits and the aquarium didn't have many of them.  I do think he found the jellyfish interesting.  He is a big fan of SpongeBob and of course SB often talks about jelly fishing.  So seeing them in real life versus the cartoon was quite eye opening for him.

Adoree's favorite color 95% off the time is pink!  So she really gravitated to these pink anemone.

There is something magically about how these sting rays move through the water.  They actually had an open area where you could touch them but the kids didn't want to.

These eels were creepy yet cool at the same time!

I should have taken a far away shot of the aquarium but this is all I got.  See the aquarium is a tunnel and the fish (yes that is a shark) swim to the left, right and overhead.  It is very cool to see the under bellies of some of these amazing creatures!

Christmas Candy Bar Wrapper

Well I finally got Manny Monkey in my store.  I am pretty happy with the way he turned out and I hope you are too!  Here is the card I completed.  I even did some stitching on the card.  It's my first ever attempt at sewing.  I am definitely not a seamstress but love the look at stitching on a card.  I was thrilled when my parents bought me a Janome Mini sewing machine.  I have to practice at getting the lines straight but I had soo much fun!

I used one of Penny Duncan's wonderful shaplies file for the background of Manny.  The paper used was from a Transparent Touches kit.  The image was colored with Copic markers.  Next time I create with Manny I want to put some flocking on him.  If you would like to take Manny home simply click on the words below.

Kelly Stone has provided me with sooo many projects I have not be able to show them all in one blog post.  So below is one more card.  She used Aussie Caz's awesome sketch in addition to some of my files.  I love how the flourishes turned out!  Genius idea Kelly!

Here is what Kelly had to say about her great card:

"For the June card sketch, I used most of the components supplied by Aussie Caz. I stretched the card size to 5x7, and substituted the scalloped circle from Shelly's Hummingbird card file (SS00123) for the plain circle. The swirl on top is from Shelly's Floral Mom Tag 2 (SS00093). I cut 2 of them, cut 1 into pieces and glued them together. The long vertical panel is embossed with the floral screen cuttlebug folder and then sanded. The hello sentiment is cut from vinyl."

In hopes of getting my craft room ready soon I've been collecting organizational ideas.  Any you guys want to share would be great!  I have always been at a loss when it came to organizing my paper scraps.  So when I found  Jennifer's post  (scroll down to find her post) on the Creating Keepsakes Club blog about how she stores her patterned paper scraps I couldn't wait to try it.  I've posted photos below.  I just love it!  It's very similar to how wallpaper books are bounded.  It's great because you can just flip through the books to see what you need and everything is uniform so things don't get ripped.  I need to purchase some more binder clips as I have more scraps to organize.  Jennifer cuts the scraps to the closest inch.  I am such a paper hoarder that I had a hard time cutting off some of the paper to get to the inch.  I also reluctantly got rid of anything less than 2 inches.  I gave these to the kids to create with.  These books will be kept in the storage drawer but once I get my craft room done I might hang them up as inspiration!

Wow!  This post is getting long!  Sorry!  I have a one more photo to share as I promised to show what the tooth fairy left Tyler.   It was soo cute!  Tyler was watching the TV show Super Why and the kid on there wrote a note to tell the tooth fairy asking if he could keep his tooth.  So Tyler did the same.   He even wanted to leave the tooth under my pillow instead of his.  I am going to scrap this note and maybe even put his tooth in a memoriablia keeper to put on the page too.  Tyler was soo happy to have his tooth still  but what made him even happier was the gift the tooth fairy had left!  He says the electric toothbrush feels like Mr. Tickle..this is what the dental office uses to clean his teeth.  As you can see Adoree had to get into the photo too.  She is such a ham!

Okay now to show you the teacher's gift. My son's student teacher had her last day recently at school so they had a going away party for her. I needed a quick gift...I could have done a slightly better job on the coloring and with the sentiment but once again I was headed out the door right after finishing this. It does go quick..coloring is the hardest part especially when you don't know what you are doing and the color keeps bleeding! It uses my notepad with cover file, the scallop circle is from my hummingbird card, and the girl and apples are a stamp called Sugar Plum: Apple Emma from C. C. Designs. You can buy the stamp at the Paperthreads store here.



The gift bag is very simple to make..just take a brown lunch bag fold the top over and punch two holes in to insert your ribbon through. add the scallop circle with a pop dot below where you bow will be. The paper clip is simple too just two scallop circles adhered back to back with pop dots with the paper clip in between. For more durability you can use silicone to attach the paper clip...I just didn't have time to let the silicone dry. I added a pen holder to the front of my note pad by cutting a rectangle strip of paper and attaching it with brads. First up I love what Sue has done with my newest file Cutie Firefly. Sue is one of my best customers! She is always seems to find a use for my files. She just whips one project after another out..I have a hard time keeping up with her! LOL! Here is what Sue had to say about the cute layout of her grandson picture below. "I used my pen tool for the eyes and tongue and then colored them in. Blue plastic folder for the wings and then my own title with a font called "inspiration". I cut the title mat out by hand."
