Papertrey Ink Make it Monday #78 Stitching and Stamping

Once again popping at the last minute with my Make it Monday challenge entry.  In case you missed it Nichole has a wonderful video on her blog depicting how Heather Nichols stamps and then stitches on her cards.  You can see it here. Stitching does take a little time but I think the effort is worth it as it adds soo much interest and texture to projects.  Below is a layout I did with stitching added to it.  I definitely like it more now that I took the time to stitch.  Sorry about the poor photo..daylight was dwindling when I took it!

Gosh look at those little darlings!  This seems like eons ago...my son is now 8 and my daughter is 5..where did toddlerhood go?  I really don't dress my kids on a day to day basis thinking of how they will look on a layout together.  (well..I might put them in colors that don't clash with orange at pumpkin picking time!).  However, I so wish Tyler wasn't wearing SpongeBob jammies!  Adoree has a pretty soft blue dress on which is perfect for the mood of this layout...SpongeBob clashes!  UGH!  Well as least it's yellow and yellow matches right!

I stitched little veins in the leaves.

Then I felt like I need one additional stitched element for cohesion so I pulled out some stitching templates from Oriental Trading and stitched a flourish.  I used variegated yellow floss to help blend in the bright yellow stamping (and Sponge Bob) versus the soft yellow in the background paper. 

I am trying to do more stamping in my scrapbooks.  For some reason I never think about stamps unless it's time to make a card.  So my goal over the next few months is to break out of that habit. I hope to scrapbook a little more too as I'm sure you guys are tired of seeing only cards! So stay tuned for more layouts!

Frugal Fridays: Loving Owl Tag for $1.00 today only

First up I love what Sue has done with my newest file Cutie Firefly. Sue is one of my best customers! She is always seems to find a use for my files. She just whips one project after another out..I have a hard time keeping up with her! LOL! Here is what Sue had to say about the cute layout of her grandson picture below. "I used my pen tool for the eyes and tongue and then colored them in. Blue plastic folder for the wings and then my own title with a font called "inspiration". I cut the title mat out by hand."
