I went to a crop and wanted to make some quick gifts for the hostesses.  My notepad with cover file was perfect!  I needed 3 and I was able to fix exactly 3 on a 12 x 12 piece of paper.  Yeah! 

I used a Transparent Touches kit (May Kit #1) .  I absolutely love pink, brown and orange together!  I haven't purchased many rub ons but I just love the ones that came in the kit..they were soo easy to apply!  I never thought I would use brown glitter glue but I love the look of it on the scrolls.  If you click on the photos..you should be able to see the sparkle better. The hostesses just loved these!  I think they would make great Christmas gifts for teacher, hair dressers, post office workers etc.  They would be great to add to stockings too!

Looky!  I did it...I really did it!  I have been wanting to try Iris Paper Folding forever.    So when I saw the hot air balloon card by Blue Moon Creations..I just had to try it.  I love the way this card turned out...looks like I spent hours upon hours but it wasn't that bad at all!  What a great way to use scraps!  I  used my card base 3 file (coming soon to the store).  The strips on the side are perfect for using scraps!  I was delighted to find this awesome free sentiment at an incredible website called Create with TLC.   In case you can't read it "Wishing you all of the ups and none of the downs."  Let's see the cloud background was made with Copics airbrush system using Tori Hemingway's tut here.   I love the look and it doesn't take much effort at all!  The hot air ballon basket is from Bird's Cards wonderful blog.  There are soo many great balloons on this site..you're sure to find one you like.  I colored the basket with my copics too.  I love my Copics!

I will get to the freebie soon but wanted to give you a sneak peak at what is coming to my store soon.

These sentiments were a request by one of my creative team members.  What a great request it was!  These sentiments are perfect to add to Shirley's RAK cards as well as solider cards or anyone who needs some encouragement.

Esther Woo Benjamin for Eddita's Christmas card swap last year sent us all an amazing Iris paper folding card.

Isn't that the cutest thing you have ever seen!  Want to make your own?  Well be patient...you just may get your wish!

CDT member Kelly Stone gave this little guy a try too..her results are below.  She is definitely the Queen of Embossing...love that look Kelly! I also love how she used glitter glue in the "eye"...great idea if you don't have any metallic paper!   Here is what Kelly had to say about her card "I added some Sparkly Fluff to the hat trim and embossed/sanded the background paper. Stickles in the iris center and a googly eye finished it off."

So I had to try out this little penguin too!  It was soo easy to do!  I made this at the crop.  A friend of mine...Lisa...had just the right enhancements to make my penguin adorable!  Don't you just love the little puffy heart, eye and fur trim she donated!  Thanks so much Lisa! 

As you can see I didn't stray too far from Esther's example!  Why mess with perfection!  LOL!  I loved using the scraps for this cute little guy.  I had my doubts the scraps I chose would look okay but it seems even if you mix many patterns with this technique it still turns out great!

A little info:  Esther got the original pattern for this penguin at Circle of Crafters.  She sized it to fit on her card and made the cutlines for it.  So I talked with Esther and she is graciously giving you the cutlines for this card as a freebie.  Yipeee!    But first let me give you a little more info.  These can be found in your freebie file too but just in case you want to see what Iris Paper Folding is all about before you download.

Frugal Fridays: $1.00 file today only and a great teacher's gift idea

HEllo everyone,
Merry Christmas! I hope you are enjoying the holidays festivities. Only 13 days before Christmas. R U ready? I certainly am not...hope to get some shopping done today and get a tree this weekend.

Okay now to show you the teacher's gift. My son's student teacher had her last day recently at school so they had a going away party for her. I needed a quick gift...I could have done a slightly better job on the coloring and with the sentiment but once again I was headed out the door right after finishing this. It does go quick..coloring is the hardest part especially when you don't know what you are doing and the color keeps bleeding! It uses my notepad with cover file, the scallop circle is from my hummingbird card, and the girl and apples are a stamp called Sugar Plum: Apple Emma from C. C. Designs. You can buy the stamp at the Paperthreads store here.



The gift bag is very simple to make..just take a brown lunch bag fold the top over and punch two holes in to insert your ribbon through. add the scallop circle with a pop dot below where you bow will be. The paper clip is simple too just two scallop circles adhered back to back with pop dots with the paper clip in between. For more durability you can use silicone to attach the paper clip...I just didn't have time to let the silicone dry. I added a pen holder to the front of my note pad by cutting a rectangle strip of paper and attaching it with brads.
