Lovely Layout (cutter file)

Digi Layout Template 1

Below is a closer look at the wonderful digi layout Caz created with the above template and my Spring Splendor digi kit.  Isn't it gorgeous!   I love the glitter style she used!  The best thing about digi scrapping you can add as much glitter as you want and there is no mess left behind!

My Creative Design Team has been busy using my Playful Flower, leaves and branches file on various fab projects!  Check them out below.

First up is Brett's wonderful shabby chick card! Her card is based on Caz's great sketch for last month's sketch challenge I host on Paperthreads.   She used a Cuttlebug folder to emboss the flower/letters and I just love the burlap mat under her sentiment.  The colors are just gorgeous!   Brett thought out of the box when she created the sentiment as she cut off the loops on my letter charms file.  A brilliant idea...great way to get more mileage out of a file!

Next up we have two beautiful cards from Sandra.   These cards have gorgeous colors in them as well.  Her inking really adds a nice touch to the die cuts.  Of course a card wouldn't be complete with out the charms Sandra is known for!  The card in the lower right is base on one of Caz's great card sketches.   Here is what Sandra had to say about her cards:

Top:

"I used Stampin Up paper from the "Sweet pea" stack - love this paper.  and of course there is a lady bug charm crawling up the stem to the flower (from www.acharmingplace.com).  "

Bottom;

"The birds are a stampin up punch (and I forgot to distress them like I did the flowers). And the mini dragon fly charms are from www.acharmingplace.com and the paper is from the stampin up "sweet pea" paper pack."

If you'd like to purchase the files used in these cards please click the words below.

Letter charms

Many of you know my good friend Elizabeth well not too long ago she gave her sister a cutter and started an addiction!  She (Tammy) loves using it and I'm honored one of her first file purchases was my 3-D butterfly file!  I'd love to share with you a project Elizabeth shared with me that Tammy created.  I just love the colors she chose!  I hope she shares more creations with me!  Elizabeth is sooo lucky to be able to share her paper crafting passion with her sister!  I'm sooo jealous! LOL!

Click on words below if you'd like to purchase the butterflies.  Thanks!

3-D butterflies

Wow!  This post is mega long!  Thanks for hanging in there if you are still reading!  I want to share one more thing with you as I promised a friend of mine I would.....so here goes!  Tyler made butterflies out of coffee filters and clothespins for Adoree's party.  He had a blast making these!  He made some in school and they were more colorful since they dipped squares in paint and used them to decorate the wings but I didn't have time to let paint dry.  So I let Tyler use my stamps....he loved picking stuff out and inking it up.  I have a Fiskars Stamp Press so it was easy for him to use it to stamp the coffee filters.   I hope to share Adoree's birthday photos some time next week!

Hmm it seems once again it's lunch time and my belly is rumbling and my daughter is hungry too!  One of these days I'll get this post done earlier..well it's good  to have dreams right!  LOL!   I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!  Thanks for stopping by!

Technique Tuesday: Circle Flowers and a freebie

Howdy,
Have you guys seen the latest issue of Scrapbooks Etc magazine?  The April 2010 issue contains some amazing flower making techniques.  I can't wait to try them all out.  I so wanted to share one of the techniques with you.  However, I don't want to infringe on any copyrights.  So I can't do any step by step photos or anything but I will tell you the basics and show you my examples.  Here is a circle flower I made using the digital cutter file I have provided you with as a freebie further down in this post.

Isn't it great!  As you can see it's completely made of circles!  Okay so get yourself some paper mixing various solids and patterns is fine.  This is a great time to use up your scraps...you'd be amazed what you can mix together and still get a great looking flower!  Cut out all your circles..now for the fun part!   Take out your stress on these little circles.  Crinkle them up, abuse them..they can take it!   If desired ink the edges of each circle or distress the edges with scissors or sanding block.  Layer them together on top of one another with the largest being at the bottom.  Perfectly center each circle or misalign...either is perfectly fine!  Now attach your embellishment of choice to the center.  That's it you are done!  Here are some of the examples I made..these are smaller because I used my circle punches for these.

These are just a few of the possibilities.   You could use crocheted flowers, glitter glue dots, letters, butterflies, charms, etc.    You could even use scallop circles to make these as well.  It's also fun to spray the whole completed flower with glimmer mist or apply glitter to the edges of each circle. You could also add some flocking to the flowers for a totally different look.

Below is a card I made for my daughter's Valentine.   The base is done digitally using Aussie Caz's layered PSD file she graciously donated for signing up for my sketch challenge on the PT forum.   The little girl is a digital stamp by Pixie Dust Studios.  Isn't it the cutest!  I did use some glitter glue on her...click on the photo to make it larger.   I also sprayed some gold glitter completely on my flower.  I used green netting for the leaves.

My printer turned the middle purple square pink...UGH..hate when what I see on the screen doesn't match my printout.  I used my Copic markers to color the image.  Getting better but still don't know how to do hair!  My daughter did like it...so that is all that matters right!

Oh and I wanted to share with you all a baby card Ginger did using my Clothes Line Baby Boy Card .  I love how she used a real string for the line and carried through to the inside so she could decorate the inside with the onesie too.  Check it out below.  If you'd like to purchase this file click here.

Okay now that you made it this far..you deserve a freebie!  Here is the circle flower file.  I gave you leaves and a small flower to put in the center of your flower in case you don't have any other embellishment.  The zip contains the AI, GSD, KNK, SVG, and WPC files.  This link will expire in 24 hours.  I ask that you do not share this file with anyone.  Please send them here to download the file themselves.  Click on preview to download freebie.  Thanks!
Sorry link expired!

Gotta go....little one needs lunch!  Thanks for stopping by and if you try this technique...please show me your results at shellysart@verizon.net.

Frugal Fridays: Get your snowflakes here just $1.00..get 'em while they are cold and PT shutdown!

H..hh...hhh...ee...lll...oooo!   Brr it's teeth chattering cold here and I know many of you are experiencing the worst winter has to offer.  It's not too bad here just a little snow and very cold!  OMG!   The sun just peeked out....oh the benefits of sunshine!  I know I'll be complaining when it's Summer and that little sun won't go away!  :)

Okay since it's so cold and snowing in many areas I decided to offer up some snowflakes for $1.00.  This price is good through today only and will end at midnight EST Jan 8, 2009. These snowflakes were all hand designed by me and very unique in deed!  Look closely they resemble children and angels.  The perfect accent for playing in the snow photos! Click below to purchase the file in my store.

I have also added a few files to the store.  They were previously only offered in my membership club (which you can still purchase for a few more days).  Click on the previews to see the files in my store.

Paperthreads store (including my store) and forum will have a shutdown sometime this weekend to move the site to perform some maintenance.  So that means you will have no excuse not to do some paper crafting or dare I say it housework!  LOL!  I know I will be working on a big project for my membership club.  Want a hint it involves rolodex cards and month titles!  Be on the lookout for this project some time next week!

Enjoy your weekend!   Stay warm!

Frugal Fridays: True Love Kit Just $1.00

It's Friday and that means It's time for another Frugal Friday deal of the week. For today only 11/20/2009 my true love kit will be available for $1.00. The sale will expire at midnight CST so hurry and cash in on this great deal! It really is a great file....the scallop rectangle mats a 4 x 6 photo perfectly! Switch up the colors and the paisley goes with just about any layout. I can definitely see it in reds and greens or metallic colors for holiday cards. Click on the preview to purchase or here.

Speaking of Christmas I'd like to share with you some fun and festive Christmas cards a very talented member of CDT named Lisa created. She used my notebook edge: shaped notes file. It is only available by purchasing my membership.

And....look she didn't stop there...two more cards posted below!

I just love all the little touches Lisa adds like the buttons and ribbon. Here is what Lisa had to say about her splendid cards...."The label is a modified version of Laury's file from last months card challenge. The border strip on this card is the negative image of the edge of one of the notes. Other elements are punches or my own KNK files."

Below you can see the actual file you get when you purchase the membership. Click here to purchase. You do get the flower and swirl too.

I'd also like to share with you the most recent file added to my membership. It's rather whimsical. Look closely at Mr. Tom...he is a very tricky bird! He is hiding the pumpkin pie behind his back. He is stating that if you are going to eat his friends then you don't get any pie! LOL! Corny I know but I thought it was nice twist to this box. You can just cut the front body twice or just have the wings hold a name tag or something instead of being corny like me! You can only get this file by purchasing my membership. Click here to purchase or in the Ad at the bottom of this post.

Another wonderful member of my CDT, Elizabeth helped me cut this at my house this past weekend. I love how it turned out and will be giving these as teacher gifts next week!

I'll be busy celebrating two birthdays this weekend hubby's and my son's! I hope you all have fun too! Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Birthday card with material and dew drops!

I used Carrie Creations whimsical flower file(CS00054) and playful tags (CS00158) to make this card. I pleated and stapled material to a cardboard circle to attach behind the flower. I also used clear dew drops colored with markers. The ribbon is from rockin' ribbon and the background paper is DCWV. I used the pen tool and a pencil to do the sentiment then traced it with a uniball signo glitter gel pen.

Thanks for looking!

This is a credit card holder I created to match my handbag. I used Carrie Creation's layered flowers file. You can find it at this link layered flowers . I inked the edges with fluid chalk...love that stuff. If you haven't tried it I urge you to do so.....so easy! You can buy it at Joann's online.
I also used a technique found in March 2008 Papercrafts magazine for the dotted paper. Doesn't it look a lot like ruffled material? I hope to create a digital cutter file to teach you this technique so stay tuned.

My baby girl came 3 weeks early so our church choir had a baby shower without me! One of the choir members was gracious enough to bring the presents home to us.
I used many digital cutter files in this layout
my file: found at Cutters Market
alphabet charm letters
Carrie Creation's files:
all about the arrow
baby accessories
playful banners:frills
playful tags
