Great Outdoors

CDT member Aussie Caz even used this title in a wonderfully creative way.  She used it in this digital scrapbooking layout.  I just love how it turned out..don't you!?!

Well I have been very busy on potty duty and other members of my CDT have been busy too so I don't have any other paper crafting projects to share with you.  But...you know I like to "blab" so I can't end this blog post here!  So please read on and at the end of the post you'll see a sneak peak at a digital stamp coming soon to the store and I hope you'll give me an opinion on it.

Yipee..eventually I am getting my very own craft room.  It may be a while until it's ready but I'm very excited about it.  So much so that I have started figuring out ways to organize all my stuff so I can be productive in my craft room.  So I figured I'd share my finds with you here so hopefully it will help you get organized and in turn you'll have more time to make wonderful paper crafting projects.

When I scrapbook and card make the very first thing I think about before I start the project is figure out my color palette.  So I thought about that when I began looking for organizational ideas.   I have a ton of embellishments and really need a good system to store them.  While googling I came across Nicole Heady's wonderful studio here.  She has all her embellishments grouped by color.  So when she needs a pink embellishment she grabs her pink box and she's good to go.  So I had two compartment boxes here and I set to work.

I just did this a couple days ago so I'm not sure if I'm going to like it but in theory it looks great!  Now all my ribbons, fibers, brads, buttons etc all  in one box.  So if I need a pink flower I grab this box..need a pink ribbon..grab this box too.  Now it's not an exact science as some of my ribbons have more than one color.  But since the boxes are all nice and organized and everything is visible it's not hard to look in each box if need be.  Rather than thumbing through many....many different boxes and stuff to find what I need.  Now for a little details on what I have in the box.

*small brads and eyelets are in little snap shut containers.  These were in a bead organizing box all colors together previously.  So I kept my eyelets and brads in these boxes allowing me to keep various things in one compartment of my pink box.

*larger patterned brads are stuck through cork boards keeping them nice and visible

*fibers are in mini zip bags.  I purchased a lot of fibers through E-bay many years ago they had each fiber in a mini zip bag.  I love this as it keeps the fibers contained, organized and untangled.  I plan on getting more of these bags for my other fibers..I saw some at Wal-mart.   They are also great for the small brads and stuff too...allowing for more than one item in each compartment of my box.

*Aren't those little rolls of ribbon cute!  No it didn't take me a lifetime to roll all those ribbons up.  I used a very nifty tool to help me roll them in literally minutes.  The ribbon spooler is sooo handy.  It is one of my favorite tools.  When the ribbon is spooled in this way you can fit soo much ribbon in a very small space.  Which is good for me since I have a massive amount of ribbon.  Can you say "ribbon addict!"

I do see two problems with this method.  One I only have two of these boxes which I bought years ago when I first started paper crafting and all of my embellishments fit into these two boxes.  So now I need to find more boxes ....keeping my fingers crossed I can without spending a fortune.  I love these boxes because the dividers slide out giving me a bigger compartment.  Two there is no room to grow at least in this box!  I kinda went nuts with pink...did the red box and it's pretty empty!  I think that is because when I had a little girl after doing boy layouts for soo many years I went pink crazy!  So I thought about an alternative if it costs too much to buy a box like this for every color.  I could buy some of those plastic drawers and do one drawer in each color and use the zip bags, tin containers etc to seperate items.  I'd have to dig a little because stuff wouldn't be as compartmentalized but at least there is room to grow and I just toss it in the drawer when I get something new.  This would take up more room though.  I do  think this method  will allow me to see what colors of I need more of and what I shouldn't buy again....ummmm...like PINK!  So what do you think.  Do you give this method a thumbs up or thumbs down?

Okay now for the sneak peek I promised you.  I have been working on this monkey digital stamp and I think it turned out pretty cute.  I'm not positive I like the squiggles by the leaves.  What do you think?  Please let me know either in comment on this post or the chat box to the right top of this blog.  I want to include some sentiments too so hopefully I can get this in the store by next week.

I'll end this post with some Summer Fun!  Last year we had a big inflatable pool but it was soo hard to clean and my kids don't stay in the pool they keep getting out and stepping into the grass and mud making the pool water messy.  So this year we decided to get a kiddie plastic pool that is much easier to clean.  However, it wasn't too small as I couldn't fit it in my van when I bought it.  LOL!  Hubby had to get it with his truck!  The kids love it and I'm soo glad!  One of their favorite things is to make us soup and tea using cheap plastic containers, spoons and watering cans.  Gotta love it when simple things provide endless entertainment!

Okay gotta go..need to go on a compartment box hunt!  Have a great weekend!  Thanks for stopping by!

In honor of those the great guys in our lives I am having a 40% off sale on all my designs.  Click here to visit   my store.  Before you leave check out some of the amazing stuff my design team has done and there is a freebie too.   I have a few of Tyler's graduation photos at the end of this post.

As promised here is the amazing card CDT member Lisa created using my newest file Card Base 2.  Talent runs in the family as Lisa's Mom sent her this beautiful glittery butterfly.  Lisa added a flourish stamp, sentiment, a flower, and a few gems to create this stunning card in no time.  Click words below if you want to purchase this card base and make some quick cards of your own.

Card Base 2

Next up we have some wonderful digi layouts by CDT Aussie Caz.  She created wonderful pages using my newest digital kit Wedding Bliss

I like how Caz flip the patterned paper to make an interesting patten in the middle.  Caz also used my silver charms on this fab layout.

Caz did another layout of her great family using my kit.  The layered border she used at the bottom is one of my favorite elements from the kit.  I like how Caz titled the champagne glasses....I'm a linear kind of gal and sometimes forget that things look better angled.

I have one more item to share with you using the Wedding Bliss Kit.   It's a card that uses the digital version of the card base coming soon to the store.

If you'd like to purchase any of the items used in the digital projects please click on the words below.  Keep checking back for the digi card template 2 as it should be in the store soon.  Oh and remember this kit can work for more than weddings too as there are many flowers and ribbons that would work great for non-wedding projects.

In today's busy life we are all about quickly doing scrapbooking pages.  Digital scrapbooking is definitely a quicker way to scrapbook.  Caz has made things even quicker for you though by providing you with a quick page you can just drop your photos into and have a splendid page in literally minutes.  Wasn't that nice of her to save you sooo much time.

Click here to download the quick page and be sure to leave Caz some love either in my chat box to the right or in the comments to this post.

Okay so now I promised to share with you some photos of Tyler's Kindergarten graduation.  I'm afraid I don't have many good ones as the lighting was poor and I was crying a lot!  Tyler's teacher is leaving the school district and Tyler loves her soo much so he is quite sad she is leaving.  We were sooo lucky to have a great teacher like her teach Tyler his very important first year.

Tyler wanted me to show you all the pot only so thus the picture above.  I tied my hands and let him do most of the work.  He used my Lollipop Boquet file so I had to cut that for him but everything else he did himself.  The tag says "I love you bunches".

Okay it's getting super late!  I am watching another child today and they all want chocolate chip pancakes or waffles so I'd better go feed them!  Have a wonderful weekend and thanks for stopping by.

Frugal Fridays: Today only $1.00 Dentist title file in my store.

Howdy,
How has everyone's week gone? I hope it was a good one! For me Summer has officially began. My son graduated from Kindergarten (hope to have some photos to show you soon..haven't even gotten a chance to look at them yet). Yesterday was his last day of school. He didn't want school to end as he loved his teacher. He won't even be able to visit her next year as she is leaving the school district. Plus someone informed him he will have to take tests and do homework in 1st grade....he's not looking forward to that! He did soo well in Kindergarten though! We are soo proud of him and he does seem more grown up then when he started school. He even loved riding the bus! We are soo lucky he liked school so much...I hope this trend continues through his school years!

Okay now on to the Frugal Friday special. For today only you can get my Dentist visit file for $1.00. Hurry though this price will disappear at midnight EST today 6/11/2010.  Click on the words below to purchase.  But before you leave please check out some amazing projects by my CDT and also there are Adoree's b-day photos at the end of this post too.

Dentist Visit

First up we have two wonderful projects from Lisa.  She has such a great eye for combining colors and elements that make things look so elegant!  See for yourself in the projects below.

This stunning card uses my buttons galore file minus the holes.  What a great way to get more mileage from a file!  Way to think outside of the box Lisa! Click word below if you'd like to purchase this file.
Buttons Galore

Next up another equally stunning card from Lisa.  It features the awesome sketch Aus Caz created for my sketch challenge on the PT forum this month.   Lisa used my Think Spring file for the focal point.  I think the colors are just amazing!  Love that little bit of sparkle on the patterned paper too.  The fact she popped up the front petals of the tulips really adds dimension to this card.  Click on the words below to purchase this file.

Think Spring

Last but definitely not least we have a fun yet masculine birthday card using my Monogram Birthday Card.   I love how Kelly crimped the top border strips....just the perfect texture to add interest to the card.   I need to dust off my crimper and put it to use!  Wonderful job Kelly!  Click on the words below to purchase the card file!

Monogram Birthday Card

I promised to share some photos of Adoree's 3rd birthday so here goes.   Hubby got his own camera so he took some photos too but I think they are still on his computer.  I need to get them...gotta get my photos organized!

Blowing out candles....this bright cake matched the napkins and her shirt...yeah!

Goofy grin...enjoying her cake!  This little girl sure can put away some food!

This Dora guitar is one of her favorite presents.   She carries it around everywhere.  It plays Dora music when you start strumming it.

The little guy below is her buddy!  She is about a year older than him.  He is sooo cute!  Don't they make a cute couple!  He knows how to treat a girl as he is the one who bought her the guitar!

Oh in case you are wondering why Adoree's hair is so short.   It is because when she sucks her thumb she pulls her hair with the other hand.  She was born with a full head of hair and it would be soo long and lovely by now if she would stop pulling it out.   I think we are going to have to look into ways to get her to stop sucking her thumb as the short hair cut isn't working.  Any hints, tips, or tricks are appreciated.  Oh and we tried a blanket but she hates anything in her bed...no blankets, pillows or animals when she sleeps.

Thanks for stopping by..now both kids want to be fed!  Wish one of those food generating machines like on the Jetson's cartoon existed!  I'd better go!  Have a great weekend!

Lovely Layout (cutter file)

Digi Layout Template 1

Below is a closer look at the wonderful digi layout Caz created with the above template and my Spring Splendor digi kit.  Isn't it gorgeous!   I love the glitter style she used!  The best thing about digi scrapping you can add as much glitter as you want and there is no mess left behind!

My Creative Design Team has been busy using my Playful Flower, leaves and branches file on various fab projects!  Check them out below.

First up is Brett's wonderful shabby chick card! Her card is based on Caz's great sketch for last month's sketch challenge I host on Paperthreads.   She used a Cuttlebug folder to emboss the flower/letters and I just love the burlap mat under her sentiment.  The colors are just gorgeous!   Brett thought out of the box when she created the sentiment as she cut off the loops on my letter charms file.  A brilliant idea...great way to get more mileage out of a file!

Next up we have two beautiful cards from Sandra.   These cards have gorgeous colors in them as well.  Her inking really adds a nice touch to the die cuts.  Of course a card wouldn't be complete with out the charms Sandra is known for!  The card in the lower right is base on one of Caz's great card sketches.   Here is what Sandra had to say about her cards:

Top:

"I used Stampin Up paper from the "Sweet pea" stack - love this paper.  and of course there is a lady bug charm crawling up the stem to the flower (from www.acharmingplace.com).  "

Bottom;

"The birds are a stampin up punch (and I forgot to distress them like I did the flowers). And the mini dragon fly charms are from www.acharmingplace.com and the paper is from the stampin up "sweet pea" paper pack."

If you'd like to purchase the files used in these cards please click the words below.

Letter charms

Many of you know my good friend Elizabeth well not too long ago she gave her sister a cutter and started an addiction!  She (Tammy) loves using it and I'm honored one of her first file purchases was my 3-D butterfly file!  I'd love to share with you a project Elizabeth shared with me that Tammy created.  I just love the colors she chose!  I hope she shares more creations with me!  Elizabeth is sooo lucky to be able to share her paper crafting passion with her sister!  I'm sooo jealous! LOL!

Click on words below if you'd like to purchase the butterflies.  Thanks!

3-D butterflies

Wow!  This post is mega long!  Thanks for hanging in there if you are still reading!  I want to share one more thing with you as I promised a friend of mine I would.....so here goes!  Tyler made butterflies out of coffee filters and clothespins for Adoree's party.  He had a blast making these!  He made some in school and they were more colorful since they dipped squares in paint and used them to decorate the wings but I didn't have time to let paint dry.  So I let Tyler use my stamps....he loved picking stuff out and inking it up.  I have a Fiskars Stamp Press so it was easy for him to use it to stamp the coffee filters.   I hope to share Adoree's birthday photos some time next week!

Hmm it seems once again it's lunch time and my belly is rumbling and my daughter is hungry too!  One of these days I'll get this post done earlier..well it's good  to have dreams right!  LOL!   I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!  Thanks for stopping by!
