Rice Cereal layout---spots and circles

Here is a layout I did for the Scrapbook Cafe Sat challenge #21. It involved using anything with circles and dots. This layout was suppose to go together quick and easy since I had the photo picked out and used a Scrapbook Etc. made in minutes layout as a base. However, I got carried away with the embellishments. First, I thought the photos were kinda dark for my base so I dotted and dashed borders around them with my trusty uniball signo white pen. Then for the bowl I decided to put some dimensional glass effect paint. For some reason the paint cracked so now my bowl looked like an aged ceramic one enhanced with fluid chalk. I wanted a chipboard title but my Silhouette can't cut chipboard so I cut 4 layers of black cardstock glued them all together and layered the brown ontop...sanded with an emery board then fluid chalked the whole thing. It does resemble chipboard quite well. I cut out the spoon then inked it with silver and layered several layers of clear embossing powder to turn my paper into metal. Had to attach to attach the spoon with some pizazz so I added eyelets and crochet yarn. I wanted my journaling to show up better so I sanded the box a little to let the white core show through. The brads on the ribbon strip weren't my idea as they were in my sample layout.
I can't believe my daughter was that little not too long ago.
She is on the go constantly and refuses to let us feed her most of the time. I vaguely remember when she could barely eat this rice cereal.

Thumb Sucker digital layout using digital cutter files by Shirley Clark

Above is a digital layout I created for a pagemaps contest. UGH...I've had this layout almost done forever except for the journaling. I missed the contest deadline by one day!
I just love looking at these photos of my daughter when she first learned to suck her thumb. She is now 1 and still loves her thumb. I know someday this may be a problem but for now her thumb is her friend. It keeps her occupied when she is hungry or tired. I'm not ready to take this vice away now.

Flocked card for a challenge for the Scrapbook Cafe.

I entered Scrapbook Cafe's flocking Sat challenge...see details on their blog here. This is what I came up with. I'm pretty happy since the deadline is Wednesday and I got the card done today...2 days early yeah! Of course it helped that I may see the lady who I made this card for tomorrow. ;) I used doodlebug's flocking I purchased from the Scrapbook cafe store. It is just wonderful! I used glue dots to flock the brads in the centers of the flowers. The sentiment are stickers that I turned backward (except for the S-since it would have been backward.) and applied flocking directly to the sticky side. I used an "O" sticker for the flocked faux eyelet. I also flocked the centers of some of the larger flowers on the patterned paper. The patterned paper is DCWV. The flowers are just ones I pulled out of my stash of silk flowers. I used fluid chalk to enhance the edges a bit. I also used Carrie Creations playful tags file. I did some haphazard doodling on this card....a first for me since I am such a perfectionist. However, I do think this is just what the card needed. Thanks for looking and reading! Shelly

Happy 4th of July photos and preview of upcoming files.

My hubby wasn't feeling well so we didn't go watch the fireworks. I was a little sad since I just love fireworks photos and doing layouts with them. So I decided to buy some cheapy small scale fireworks and we lit them at home. I got some awesome photos. Check them out below! I hope everyone had a good holiday full of family, friends, laughter and love!

These are my two kids...I dressed them patriotically (my obsession). Aren't they the cutest!

This is a simple firework but I was quite impressed!

This is my son playing with sparklers. This is the first year he wasn't afraid of these and other loud firework noises. Yeah!

This is my son twirling around and around in a circle with the sparklers.

A close up of his circle...tooo cool or whatever words are "in" these days!

My son had so much fun we bought more fireworks today at half price! Maybe I'll take some more photos tonight...I told you I love fireworks photos!

Here are a few previews I have coming to my gallery at Cuttersmarket. I just have to test cut them and convert then they'll be ready!

Thanks for reading and look. I hope you enjoy the rest of your holiday!

SALE TIME and layouts both digital and traditional!

I have a few layouts to share with you.

First is only the second digital layout I tried. It was so easy and I'm becoming very addicted to collecting digital kits. I do hope by doing some layouts digitally I can get caught up on my scrapbooking. I work in 12 x 12 format but don't have the capabilities to print in that size so I printed my layout and attached it to a 12 x 12 background paper...then I added the date by cutting the letters and numbers on my digital cutter. I saw the idea in Scrapbooks Ect Page Planner. I know I can't do this for every page but it was a solution for this page at least. I am looking into a website that prints 12 x 12 layouts for me.

Thanks to all who shared your talent and contributed to my fun layout! You guys are the best!
For some reason this photo isn't very clear so I provided the actual digital layout too.

Next is a layout I did the traditional cut and paste way. It is a layout of all the people that visited my daughter when she was born. This is based on a Becky Higgins sketch. It was very easy to put together since all the photos were cropped to the same size. I just got some flocking and had to try it on this. With a fine tip glue pen I was able to flock many elements of the border. I also flocked Shirley Clark's hodge podge ribbon slides available at Paperthreads and Butterfly Designs classic corners file also available at paperthreads. I know it is hard to see the flocking in the photo...I did provide a larger photo of just the LHS....maybe that will be better. Trust me in real life it looks great! The ribbon is American Crafts and the paper is from a pack I bought at Wal-mart...Autumn Leaves perhaps?

Don't forget to check out my sale at my gallery in Cuttersmarket. You can stock up on many files 99cents or cheaper!

Wanna make some cards?

Do you like this card? You can easily make one yourself following the sketch I used. No you want to see the sketch don't you?! Well then click here. I am hosting a card sketch challenge on the Paperthreads forum. It is so easy to make a card when you have a sketch as a guideline. I hope to get a lot of participants as you get an awesome free file by Shirley Clark if you join in!

I have great news! I am now part of Shirley Clarks design team! Yeah! Shirley has been such a good friend and taught me so much about designing. I am so proud to be part of her team! You can read more about this on her blog.

I know I haven't posted many files at my gallery at Cuttersmarket so to make up for it I am having a sale starting 5:00pm today through Monday, July 7th. Many files will be 99cents! Happy 4th of July!

I do have a few files in the works..here is a preview. I think these would look great on a card or scrapbook page! So stay tuned!

Thanks for reading and looking!
